Several more inches of snow are expected in Billings beginning Thursday night and continuing into Friday as frigid temperatures grip the region.

Up to 4 inches of snow is possible in Billings, according to the National Weather Service, with higher accumulation likely in the foothills and mountains of south-central Montana.

Farther north, Roundup and Hysham could see up to another half-foot of snow.

Extremely cold weather has returned to Eastern Montana as an Arctic air system moved south into the region Wednesday. Billings' high temperature is expected to reach just 6 degrees Thursday, and could remain in the single digits until Saturday.

Wind chill values in the negative double digits are expected through Friday night, according to NWS.

Relatively warmer weather is expected this weekend, with Saturday and Sunday forecast to reach highs in the upper 30s.
