Ziggy Ziegler is looking for a little help to get back his bright-yellow pedicab.

The vehicle — a bicycle which pulls a two-wheeled yellow mini-cab that holds passengers — was stolen on Friday from Stella's Kitchen and Bakery, Stella Ziegler said on Saturday.

Stella saw the pedicab, which was parked in the Clock Tower Inn's parking lot adjacent to the restaurant, at 2:30. By 4 p.m., the pedicab was missing and the large "Stella's" sign that was attached to the back of it was found on the sidewalk by a Wells Fargo Bank employee.

Ziggy, a former county commissioner who owns the restaurant with his wife, wanted a pedicab for years, Stella said. Finally about three years ago, the couple bought one in Denver for $4,000.

Ziggy has ridden it as Santa Claus in the Annual Holiday Parade downtown. He's also given rides to people who have requested them.

Ziggy had been keeping the vehicle covered in the back of a nearby storage garage until a couple of weeks ago when the cover was stolen. So Ziggy kept the pedicab in the inn's parking space closest to the street.

"Somebody in broad daylight must have got on it and rode off," Stella said.

The couple is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the apprehension of the suspect and the recovery of the pedicab. Call the restaurant at 248-3060 or the Zieglers at 245-0973.
