The Rocky Mountain College debate team won first place at a forensics tournament in Hawaii Oct. 17-18.

In the final round, seniors Alison Reidmohr and Katie Berst beat the teams from Northwest University, Claremont College and Loyola Marymount.

Rocky's debate team is coached by Shelby Jo Long-Hammond, assistant professor of communications studies.

The RMC team will hold a free mock presidential debate at 7 p.m. Oct. 30 in Losekamp Hall. The debate will feature advocates for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

The debate is open to the public .
