Skies will be partly sunny in the Billings area Friday but colder temperatures, showers and snow in the mountains are expected for the weekend, the National Weather Service said.
Friday’s high will be about 69 degrees with westerly winds increasing to about 21 mph in the afternoon. Isolated showers are possible after midnight and skies will turn mostly cloudy. The low will be about 40 degrees.
Rain expected across the lower elevations on Saturday will turn to wet snow Saturday night. Up to .75 inches of liquid precipitation are possible west of a line from about Ryegate to Billings to Ashland. The highest amounts of precipitation are expected along the foothills from Livingston to Red Lodge to Sheridan, Wyo. Snowfall amounts will be light across the lower elevations, but up to 6 inches are possible along the foothills.
There is a 70 percent chance of rain on Saturday. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a high of 47 degrees expected. The low will be about 27 degrees with snow and rain likely.
Sunday’s high will be about 39 degrees with a 30 percent chance of rain and snow. Skies will be mostly cloudy.
