Montana's seven statewide elected officials sent a letter Friday to the players, coaches and parents of the Big Sky All-Stars team from Billings.

The officials signing the letter include Gov. Brian Schweitzer, Lt. Gov. John Bohlinger, Attorney General Steve Bullock, Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau, Secretary of State Linda McCulloch, Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Monica Lindeen and Clerk of the Supreme Court Ed Smith.

Here is the letter:

August 26, 2011

To the players, coaches and parents of the Big Sky All-Stars,

On behalf of ourselves and the people of Montana, we wish to tell you how very proud of each of you we are. You have played with talent and heart and shown the world what Montana is made of. You are our champions and you have earned your rank among the best Little League baseball players in this country — and the world.

To the players, thank you for your sportsmanship, your grace and skill on the field and thank you for giving so much of yourselves to the game. You are truly great baseball players — individually and as a team — and it’s been a joy to watch you play. We could not be more proud.

To the coaches, thank you for giving freely your time, leadership and talents to these fine players. They win because they’re good and they’re good because you taught them. But these are more than good players, they are fine young men and you helped teach them that, too.

To the parents, we are all sharing in some small way the joy you must feel in watching your own sons play so skillfully and at such a high level. You believed in these boys before anyone else saw them shine and they couldn’t have greater fans than you.

Good luck on Saturday — you are heroes win or lose. Our entire state is rooting for you!
