Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is scheduled to speak at the Big Sky Youth Education Foundation annual banquet next spring. The annual event has been held for the past 11 years, featuring guest speakers like Oliver North, Bobby Bowden and just last year, NFL quarterback Frank Reich.
Kristin Wylie, auction committee co-chair, said Tebow has been high on the guest wish list for years.
“We have been trying to get him for a couple of years now, even before his draft into the NFL,” Wylie said.
They got close last year, and were able to close the deal this September.
“He is such an amazing person — we really love his character and his humility,” Wylie said.
“His dedication and his work ethic, his love for children and most importantly his love for the Lord and the incredible testimony he has.”
Wylie said Tebow will share that testimony, as well as a bit of his life story during the 2012 Spring Banquet on March 5.
Tebow will also hold a question and answer session, Wylie said.
The 2012 banquet will be the first time they’ve had more than 100 tables.
Wylie said very few tables are left, which go for $550 apiece and seat 10.
Organizers expect well over 1,000 people to attend the event. The event will be held at the convention center of the Holiday Inn Hotel, 5500 Midland Road.
The event features dinner and a live and silent auction. It’s one of the organization’s most profitable events, benefiting students attending Rimview Christian School and Rimrock Christian High School.
