Rainy and possibly snowy days are ahead for the Billings area.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, warning a weather system moving into the area has the potential to drop heavy rains in lower altitudes.
In higher altitudes, heavy, wet snow is likely, increasing the risk for avalanches. Young livestock could be impacted by the wet, cold temperatures, the warning read.
Rain is possible all day Thursday as skies stay cloudy and highs reach 41. Before 1 p.m., snow is possible.
Precipitation will continue into Thursday night, and as lows drop to 27, rain could turn into a wintry mix. After midnight, the mix may turn to snow, leaving several inches by morning.
Snow will continue into Friday morning, until it turns to rain after noon. Skies will be mostly cloudy and highs will reach 49.
A rain shower is possible Friday night as lows drop to 36.
