Billings Public Library

LARRY MAYER, Gazette Staff

The Billings Public Library will host the free program “Determining the Value of Family Treasures” with Dorothy I. Long, of DIL Appraisers, in the library’s community room at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18.

Long will explain how to organize, value and document personal property for insurance coverage and to create a legacy for future generations. Treasures have stories that create family value, even if they do not have significant monetary value. Participants are encouraged to bring photographs of one object they need help with evaluating.

Long, an accredited member of the International Society of Appraisers since 2002, provides property appraisals that are Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice compliant to International Society of Appraisers standards for fine art, antiques and residential contents for insurance, estate, donation, equitable distribution, liquidation, and consultation for sale. She is considered a qualified appraiser for IRS tax and donation purposes.

For more information, contact the library at refdesk@ci.billings.mt.us or librarian Jennifer Kruger at 657-8294.
