A 21-year-old Billings woman is in critical condition after crashing her car into a concrete flower planter near the intersection of Montana Avenue and North 30th Street early Monday morning.
The woman was taken to St. Vincent Healthcare with serious injuries, Billings Police Sgt. Shane Winden said. No other people were involved in the crash, which happened at about 1:30 a.m. The collision caused her car to slam into two other vehicles parked on the side of the road, he said.
A passerby happened upon the scene and found the woman unconscious and not breathing in the driver's seat, according to a press release from the Billings Police Department. The passerby and another person took "life-saving steps until medical personnel arrived," the release stated.
Alcohol is suspected to be involved in the crash, Winden said. The press release noted that open containers of alcohol were found in the car. Winden did not know if the woman had been wearing a seatbelt.
A dog had been riding in the woman's car and died after it was ejected during the crash.
