In the service

Air Force Airman Timothy D. Strobel graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Strobel is the son of Irene and Lyle Strobel of Absarokee.

In the schools

Ashley Nelson, of Montana State University Billings, is the recipient of a nursing scholarship from The Forty and Eight, a veterans organization which supports nurses. Recipients must be a veteran or their parents or grandparents must have served in the military.

Erik Hovland, of Billings, is one of 64 Montana seventh- and eighth-graders honored at the annual spring Montana AGATE Conference in Billings. He was named as a winner in the SAT Challenge sponsored by the Montana Association of Gifted and Talented Education. These students took the SAT Reasoning I Test, earned a top score and qualified for the awards ceremony/reception where they received a medal and certificate.
