Brock LaMeres, assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has won the 2011 Excellence in Teaching Award at MSU-Bozeman. LaMeres is a 1994 graduate of West High. LaMeres has earned a reputation as a superior classroom instructor, undergraduate research mentor and academic adviser. An example of his skill and dedication as a teacher was his work as "chief instigator," project coordinator and technical adviser for MSU undergraduates who built a robot that won the 2010 NASA Lunabotics competition at the Kennedy Space Center.
At the annual meeting of the Yellowstone Genealogy Forum, (Photo) P.J. Smith was elected president. Other officers elected were: Bobbie Meyers, corresponding secretary; Tina Standish, treasurer, Ellen Booth, recording secretary; and Judy Cohen, program coordinator. Programs presented by the Yellowstone Genealogy Forum teach how to research family history. The Forum meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the church building on Sixth Street West and Avenue D.
The following members of Boy Scouts Troop 7 in Billings recently had their Eagle Scout Boards of Review: David Lindenbaum, son of Jeff Lindenbaum and Joan Sorenson, whose project involved landscaping and planting native plants around a barn on the grounds at Rim Country Land Institute outside of Billings; Cole Krenik, son of Kurt and Mary Krenik, whose project involved working with the Yellowstone Rifle Club, redesigning the sign and landscaping the entry to the club, which is located on Molt Road outside of Billings; Kyle Krenik, son of Kurt of Mary Krenik, whose project involved redesigning the irrigation ditch parallel to 56th Street West near Hope Church, in addition to completing landscaping the area for the church; and Ryan Mack, son of Jim and Jennifer Mack, whose project involved installing a sprinkler system for the Montana Family Church. Members of Troop 7 assisted in completing the projects.
