UP

Flight plans. Delta Airlines plans to start direct flights between Billings and Atlanta next summer. Meanwhile, Delta will be increasing the number of seats available on other flights into Billings.

UP

September showers. Stage 1 fire restrictions were lifted in Big Horn, Carbon, Musselshell, Stillwater, Sweet Grass, Treasure and Yellowstone counties. The bans on most open burning were imposed in August and rescinded last week after recent rainfall.

DOWN

Campus crime. Two women reported being raped in separate incidents at Montana State University fraternity houses in Bozeman last weekend. MSU police have received six reports of sexual assaults so far this year, none of which had resulted in arrests as of last week. MSU has suspended the Sigma Chi and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternities while investigation continued. While suspended, the fraternities are barred from hosting or participating in any events.

UP

River cleanup. About three dozens volunteers picked up tons of trash in the seventh annual Yellowstone River Cleanup organized by the Yellowstone Research Center at Rocky Mountain College. Thanks to the students and other volunteers from local businesses who spent a Saturday on the river hauling and recycling tires, cellphones, bottles and other trash.
