Bob Krumm's outdoor column of June 25, "Bureau of Reclamation drops the ball on Bighorn," is an undeserved slam to the Bureau of Reclamation.
I don't agree with all that the Bureau of Reclamation does or doesn't do. But what Krumm is forgetting is that the premier Bighorn trout fishery below Yellowtail Dam is a direct benefit of that facility.
No one wants to see any fishery damaged, but it isn't a perfect world. There has been and continues to be meetings with any and all concerned people, groups, organizations on the operations, laws, rules and regulations of the dam.
Maybe Krumm and his expert companions should loan their crystal ball or genie in the bottle to the bureau. It is quite simple for Krumm to tell the bureau what it should have done after it's all over and all the facts and figures are in.
I can't imagine a more difficult job than to try and outguess Mother Nature or satisfy the host of users and operate the dam for what it's intended use is for.
