As a college student at the University of Montana, I'm very concerned about a warming climate and strongly believe we must reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. The House Energy and Commerce Committee has now taken a important step forward by endorsing American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009. This legislation will steer America into a clean energy economy by creating millions of new clean energy jobs, lessen America's energy dependence on foreign sources and protect our threatened environment.

There is an irrefutable need to stop climate change. As Montanans, we are already seeing the impacts of climate change with our recent temperature increases and precipitation decreases. The forecast is for more intense forest fire seasons, longer more severe droughts and shorter, warmer winters. These changes will effect the quality of life for everyone.

By passing the American Clean Energy and Security Act, America will be given a glimpse of hope. Hope in the form of jobs, independence and prosperity. Now is the time to change, we need to stand up and make something happen for the good. Urge Congressman Denny Rehberg to vote yes on the American Clean Energy and Security Act.
