My son works in a local restaurant as a server here in Billings and has come home very upset because, once again, he was left by two tables a horrible gratuity on checks that were quite expensive. He has worked in a lot of very nice restaurants in Seattle and Chicago and said Billings is the worst he has ever seen for leaving tips.
He is a very friendly and outgoing young man, and it is not fair to him or any other server to be cheated out on good table service to not reward them. They work very hard to make your meal satisfying and pleasurable. These people depend on their tips to make a living or help pay for college, etc.
If people can not afford to leave a descent gratuity, then don't eat out.
The next time you eat out, pay attention to your server and others and see how busy they are and how many tables they are waiting on. We all know people can be very demanding and they are doing the best they can. Let's reward the servers for a job well done by leaving your server a good tip.
