A woman is brutally raped and while she is trying to recover, she also finds out she is now pregnant. Her reaction is to find a way to end this pregnancy and rid herself of an ordeal that she's haunted by. Then she finds out that if she attempts to abort her pregnancy, she will be arrested.
This is not the law today, of course, but it could be in the future if people elect more politicians like Rep. Steve Daines, R-Mont. He not only promotes that concept that government should make a criminal out of this victim, he has voted for it. These Daines-type Republicans will show no mercy for her plight simply because they believe their cause is a righteous one.
It is time for all reasonable and tolerant Americans to stand their ground to prevent those who would bend our Constitution to comply with their cause. This challenge will never end, so not electing the Daines type is crucial. Having complete freedom from religion was very important to our founders because they were also victims of its power in the countries of Europe. Today we witness horrible inhumanity in other parts of the world, justified under a religious banner.
This issue is just one of many reasons why Daines should not represent all Montanans. Anyone receiving any kind of a payroll check must ask if Daines has done or even tried to do anything to improve their status. Were his business trips to China to find out how to bring jobs to Montana or checking on their mandatory abortion policies?
Reality check here, please.
