We recently became aware of the Prison Paws for Humanity program at the Montana Women's Prison in Billings and would like to share what a great experience it was for us and our 9-month-old puppy, Lucy. We enrolled her in the training program there and couldn't be more pleased with the love, care and training she received.

It is evident how much the program's director, Deb Bouwkamp, and the women inmates - who train the dogs one-on-one - truly love what they do. We were also pleased to learn that once a dog is trained at the prison, they can be boarded and groomed there, as well.

Puppy Paws for Humanity celebrates its five-year anniversary this month. A big thank you to Bouwkamp and her staff and to Montana Women's Prison Warden Jo Acton for this wonderful program that is such an asset to our community.
