The Republican Party was founded primarily to oppose slavery. The Democratic Party tried to maintain and expand slavery. The Ku Klux Klan was formed by the Southern Democratic Party. Its mission was to terrorize African Americans and sympathetic Republicans. Republican President Eisenhower integrated the military and promoted civil rights for minorities. Eisenhower pushed through the Civil Rights Act of 1957. Eisenhower's primary political opponent on civil rights prior to 1957 was Democrat Lyndon Johnson.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was supported by a higher percentage of Republicans than Democrats. In the House, 80 percent of the Republicans and 63 percent of the Democrats voted in favor. In the Senate, 82 percent of the Republicans and 69 percent of the Democrats voted for it. Democrat Gov. George Wallace, said in his inaugural speech, “I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever!” Democrats Bull Connor, Albert Gore Sr., Robert Byrd, (leader in KKK) all supported Wallace.

Every political party has racists. The notion that Republicans are more racist than Democrats is based on nothing more than a drumbeat of Democrat innuendo constantly echoed by the liberal media. A classic example of a big lie that becomes "true" simply by virtue of being repeated so many times. Don’t fall for it.

Today’s racists are Democrats named Sharpton, Jackson and Farrakhan, to name a few. I love my Dad. My Dad was Democrat. My Dad was racist. At age 18, I married a pretty Mexican girl and registered Republican. Glad I did.
