I was privileged to be on the last Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., on May 11 and 12. I was the only woman of 77 veterans on that flight.
I want to thank everyone who had a part in making the flight possible. The people who finance the trip, the Honor Flight Committee, the medical team and the many other volunteers who made the trip a wonderful experience. The Honor Flight Committee members are very knowledgeable and made the trip very exciting.
Becky Hillier was our bus captain and pointed out buildings like the Pentagon, State Department, Agricultural Department and the Holocaust Museum. Charlie Reed shared a lot of information at each memorial. I was also privileged to see the Women's Memorial.
I thank each one of you who made the trip and Mother's Day a very memorable one for me. I hope this program will be continued for the Korean and Vietnam veterans.
I would like to say that the real heroes in my eyes are the men who were on the Honor Flight and all of the other veterans, and I would like to say a big thank you for fighting on foreign soil for our freedoms.
