Sherry Long exemplifies a dedicated public servant. Her knowledge of the duties of treasurer/assessor/county superintendent are unmatched. During her early years in the Meagher County treasurer's office, Long was chosen by the State Department of Administration to help devise the double entry accounting system now used by Montana counties. She then joined one of the first computer companies to design working computer systems for county taxation, financial recording and distribution using the new codes, tying the assessor, treasurer and clerk and recorder together. It was during my tenure in the Rosebud County Treasurer's office that I had the pleasure of working with this patient, intelligent, young woman. Long is always willing to listen to suggestions and will work to make the office as consumer-friendly and efficient as possible while staying within the parameters of Montana State Codes.

Motor vehicle lines are a difficult issue. Appointments for title work are available, but you can't take the human element out of the process. Look at the walls displaying the number of license plates designs on the wall. Does the customer know what he wants when entering into the office? That question and many others involved in title work slow things down. It's unavoidable. Renewals can be done by mail or online for a small fee.
