Pseudo religious bigotry runs deep in Billings

I cannot begin to express the shame and embarrassment I feel that I actually voted to elect three of the council members who subsequently voted against the proposed NDO. I moved to Billings seven years ago, largely on the perception that it is a live-and-let-live city. Over time, I have discovered that the undercurrent of pseudo religious bigotry here runs deep, but mostly quietly.

I am especially dismayed by the cowardly vote of our mayor, Tom Hanel, against the NDO. He had the opportunity to lead the city in a positive direction, but he blew it big time. I can only hope that in the future there will be another chance to show that Billings is at least as good as Missoula, Butte and Bozeman, and that "Not in Our Town" has real meaning.
