The Lame Deer Junior High School had their eighth-grade promotion ceremony on May 29. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but there was only one Lame Deer School Board member in attendance at this ceremony. Was it because we didn't have a celebrity as the speaker (who we could adopt — what a joke). We may not have had a celebrity speaker, but we did have a fantastic speaker who gave a very encouraging and supportive speech to this class. I cannot praise and thank the speaker and the only board member who attended the eighth-grade promotion enough. Thank you so much for caring about our children.

I am so angry and disappointed with those school board members who did not care enough to attend this ceremony that I feel was very important to these eighth-graders. In this day and age when there are so many kids dropping out of school and in trouble, you would think that these board members, who were elected by the people, would take a little time (two hours at the most) to attend and give support to the kids who did make it to the eighth-grade. When it comes time to vote for school board members again, remember to take a good look at who is running and vote for someone who truly cares about our students.
