Alejandro's family honored their son and kept his memory alive by allowing Hannah Potes of The Gazette access to their story. She did a wonderful job of telling readers about this family's travail and I congratulate her. As a host at St. Vincent who brings meal trays to the maternity floor, I have seen firsthand the compassion of these caregivers. They laugh and cry with the families because it is not just a job for them, but a ministry.
Thanks for giving us a glimpse of this family and for the brave way they are coping with their son's death. And thanks to Potes for sharing her emotions as a reporter and photographer dealing with such a tragic scene.
The family was wise and courageous for allowing her to tell its story and its impact will help many other families with similar tragedies in their lives.
