As a resident in the Heights and a parent of children who play tennis, I disagree with the man who wants to dismiss the Castle Rock tennis courts (Aug. 6 letter) from being resurfaced. My children have no place to play tennis near our house, and tennis is a life-time sport that we should be encouraging our children to learn. It is not a goal to get them to a Grand Slam tournament, but to have them develop skills, compete with integrity (they call their own lines in a game) and learn to appreciate, if not love, something they can do at any age.
By fixing the Castle Rock courts, the interest and availability of tennis in the Heights will also help grow the tennis program for Skyview High School. Please continue to support fixing and resurfacing the Castle Rock tennis courts to give families yet another healthy activity to do together. This will not only benefit the families in the Heights, but the Billings tennis program city wide.
