Wow, people, I have been annoyed all week after reading this teaching and progress in SD2. I now feel I am wasting my property taxes! Why?
I first have a problem with identifying students by "sub-groups!" This irks me to no end! "Why no person should be taught to by their personal condition!" Like if I lived in a poorer neighborhood, low-income (get reduced lunches) or a break out of their ethnicity or the like — not cool!
Then the statements on the schools! How do the kids in Arrowhead (by me) get such great scoring and by the time they get to West High drop in the rating? That report has totally angered me to the fact of: 1. this morning I was listening to a fellow who is connected to a school/corporate Program who said their group is finding that when the kids are IDed as low income or lower achieving, the "teachers are not expecting them to achieve!" I now have a personal feeling that this is what's going on with the way the teachers are looking at low-income minority children in the SD2 schools! I also have some personal experience with this. Let's teach basics and go into higher grades with a solid foundation.
We need to throw out that stupid "No Child Left Behind.” It’s George Bush's idea, and I doubt they use it in Texas any longer! Let’s get real, I do not feel we should have "teaching" to the "test"! My personal feelings!
