I am a 10-year U.S. Navy combat veteran. I served this great nation honorably and faithfully, and I am extremely proud to be from Montana. Respecting my state and honored to live here, I couldn't help but write in regard to the recent campaign ad from Steve Daines.

Frankly, I am appalled by Daines' treatment of our men and women in uniform. Daines has voted against increasing their pay and funding essential support programs for our soldiers. In less than two years in office, he already has a long record of trying to cut support for the services that our veterans earned through their service to our nation.

John Walsh spent 33 years in the National Guard. This gives him unique insight into the needs of our enlisted service members. In his brief time in the Senate, he has sponsored a number of bills aimed at supporting soldiers and veterans, including his landmark Suicide Prevention for America's Veterans Act. Daines has never served, but this is no excuse for his reprehensible voting record.

In this November's Senate race, Montanans face a clear choice when it comes to protecting the promises we made to the men and women who committed to fighting for our freedoms. Join me in voting for John Walsh, a true champion of our American heroes.
