I understand the city is considering developing a couple of parks in the downtown area.
We live on Custer Avenue about three blocks east of Faith Chapel on a dirt street. For years I have tried to get the street department to cover our street with the used material that is scrapped off the state highways. The county uses this material in a lot of different areas and it works well.
The street department has said they will do this only if an SID is approved. This would cost for this one block around $200,000. I do not think anybody could afford the additional taxes.
What we need is the street sealed, and then the city would not have to apply dust oil once a year. This oil lasts about two weeks and then the dust is back. I would bet that if any of the city’s people lived here, the street would have been sealed 20 years ago.
