BUTTE — Law enforcement officials have called off the search in the Butte-Silver Bow County landfill for a missing Anaconda woman.

Anaconda Police Chief Tim Barkell said the search ended Friday after officials went through 400 tons of garbage trying to find the body of 41-year-old Tammy Salle.

Salle was last seen on Dec. 23, and her family reported her missing three days later.

The state crime lab has confirmed that Salle's blood was on a towel found in an Anaconda garbage can that was used by Salle's boyfriend, John Goldberg. Goldberg shot himself to death before police could question him. His body was found on Dec. 29.

A sanitation worker told police they picked up an unusually heavy trash receptacle on Dec. 24.

Don't like it? Then leave, especially if you are that dissatisfied with the state. If you are already gone, or have never been here, go troll somewhere else.

The caption to the photo could read: "Just another day in Montana searching through garbage for a human body." What a loser state.

"Salle's blood was on a towel found in an Anaconda garbage can that was used by Salle's boyfriend"... sounds like a clue to me. People with "commen sense" (sic) generally try to avoid sounding silly.

Too much coffee this morning, Howard? They didn't find this lady's body, so the garbage man was messing with the cops? Good grief!

Ask yourself this ryno23, if it was your mother, daughter, sister or other family member, would you not turn over every single rock to find her, and give her a proper send off? If you lost a loved one in a crime like this, how would you feel if it was stuck in the back of your mind that your loved one could be buried under a mountain of garbage with no marker, and no place to visit?

Who said it was a wild goose chase? How big is the Butte landfill? A towel with the victim's blood was found in the trash can. Who is to say that if they went through 410 tons of garbage, they wouldn't of found her. Your accusations are pathetic.

Who in their right mind would go through this much trouble and expense on such flimsly evidence as a "heavy garbage can.". Typical of many government employees...no commen sense.

The garbage man who sent these guys on this wild goose chase is laughing his ass off over a beer about a bunch of cops digging through a dump in mid winter. His "prank" that cost hundreds of hours and who knows how much money will go unpunished........ or will it ;-) . The "law dogs" aren't as dumb as he thinks they are..... They know where he lives, what he drives, where he drinks..... I've I were in his shoes, I'd be really careful or simply leave town!!! We have a saying out here.... "what goes around comes around".... On the "left coast" it's called "Karma"....................
