The Stillwater County Sheriff's Office is investigating a body found this afternoon along the railroad tracks east of Park City and near the Yellowstone County line.
Sheriff Cliff Brophy said a man in the area found the body around 1 p.m. and called authorities. Brophy said the body had probably been there for several days before it was discovered, so identification may be a problem.
Brophy said it appears to be a man's body, and an autopsy is under way tonight to determine a cause of death. Brophy said all such situations are considered suspicious until a cause of death determines otherwise.
"I anticipate that it's going to be one of these guys that come off a train," Brophy said. "Finding the identification of the man might be tricky. Did he fall off the train, was he hit by the train, or was he placed there and it didn't have anything to do with the train?"
Railroad investigators, the Montana Highway Patrol and the Park City Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Department assisted at the scene.
