BOZEMAN - A 26-year-old Belgrade man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for separate instances of rape and assault.
A Gallatin County jury convicted Timothy M. Wright in April for a rape that took place in January 2008. He and the victim were on their second date when he held his truck keys to her throat and threatened to kill her.
Wright also pleaded guilty last month to assault with a weapon after he tried to stab a Belgrade woman he was staying with in June.
On Monday, District Judge Mike Salvagni sentenced Wright to 50 years in prison for the rape and 20 years for the assault. The sentences will run concurrently.
Wright also must pay $5,392 in restitution.
