The Custer County Sheriff's Office has identified a Terry man who died Saturday after he was hit by a vehicle while at a party north of Miles City.

Undersheriff Pat Roos said an autopsy showed that Harold E. Meidinger, 18, died of blunt-force trauma after a vehicle either struck him or ran him over at an outdoor party at a remote area on Deadman Road.

The incident remains under investigation, Roos said. People attending the party took Meidinger to Holy Rosary Healthcare in Miles City, where he was pronounced dead, but authorities still have not identified the vehicle that hit him or its driver.

Roos said investigators from the sheriff's office and Montana Highway Patrol plan to re-create the accident scene later this week.

On Tuesday, the MHP said that everybody interviewed by investigators claimed to have no knowledge of what happened.
