Rocky Mountain College history professor Tim Lehman will talk about “Voices from the Little Bighorn” at Chief Plenty Coups State Park in Pryor on Friday at 7 p.m.

The Battle of the Little Big Horn, popularly known as Custer's Last Stand, is an iconic moment in the history of the American West. Yet many aspects of the battle are poorly understood. Using records from popular culture — newspaper accounts, films, paintings, and poems — Lehman will explore the traditional myth of Custer’s Last Stand and offer a fresh interpretation using recent battlefield archaeology and a new appreciation of Indian accounts.

Blending popular culture and traditional history, the presentation will show how myth and history blend in understanding our stories of the American West.
