HELENA -- After the driest calendar month in history, Helena finally received a dusting of snow on Wednesday.
“Officially at the airport, they received not one rain drop for the entire month (of September),” said Jim Brusda, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Great Falls.
From July 5 to Oct. 2, Helena has only received 1.2 inches of precipitation.
“That’s the eighth-driest 90-day period on record,” Brusda said. “It hasn’t been this dry since 1973.”
Although the respite was nice, it did little to reduce the fire danger.
