9: CenturyLink Inc., $2,669,416.

Some Montana customers of CenturyLink reported having problems with long-distance calls on Friday.

CenturyLink spokesman Steve Mosher said that the company had a “service disruption” that affected some voice customers in Montana.

The problem began at about 8 a.m., he said. “We worked quickly to identify and restore impacted services shortly after 1 p.m.,” Mosher said in an email response.

"We are investigating how many customers were impacted and what areas," he added.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers,” he said.

The Billings Gazette was among those customers affected by the problem, which began at the Gazette shortly after 9 a.m. and was fixed about four hours later. The Gazette could not make outgoing long-distance calls or receive inbound toll-free calls.
