MINOT, N.D. — A man working on the roof of a four-story building in Minot fell to his death.

Police say 48-year-old Richard Rayburn of Hillsboro, Ohio, was pronounced dead at a hospital on Monday after the incident.

Authorities say Rayburn was trying to gain control of a wind-blown piece of plywood when he stepped on a loose piece of plywood and slid off the roof. They say Rayburn had been tethered to the roof but had just taken off the tether to reposition himself when the incident happened.

Police did not identify the company for which Rayburn was working.
