A Crow Agency man on Tuesday denied federal allegations that the sexually abused a minor.

Richie Shane, 26, pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court in Billings to aggravated sexual abuse and sexual abuse alleged to have happened in Crow Agency on May 16.

The indictment accuses Shane of engaging in a sexual act with a person who was younger than age 12 and who was incapable of understanding the conduct.

If convicted, Shane faces a mandatory minimum 30 years to life in prison and a maximum $250,000 fine on the aggravated sexual abuse count.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Carolyn Ostby ordered Shane to remain in custody. The case will be heard by Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull.
