Travelers along Highway 89 en route to and from Gardiner should keep an eye out for bison that have migrated out of Yellowstone National Park into the Gardiner Basin.

Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks' staff is urging drivers to pay particular attention south of Yankee Jim Canyon and to reduce their speed at night after a Colorado couple recently struck and killed a bison on the roadway. Elk and deer are also abundant along the highway and frequently cross the road.
