BUTTE — Evel Knievel’s Skycycle made a successful landing in the Butte-Silver Bow Courthouse’s rotunda Wednesday, thanks to Evel Knievel Enterprises.

The company has got a head start on Evel Knievel Days slated July 25-27 in Uptown Butte, displaying Knievel memorabilia, said collection owner Lathan McKay.

He said he has traveled 5,000 miles touring with his collection of Knievel’s stuff, which includes thousands of items ranging from cufflinks to Knievel’s Chuckles Candy dinner jacket.

The Skycycle X-2 is the steam-powered rocket that carried Knievel on his failed attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon in 1974.
