BUTTE — A former Anaconda commissioner found guilty of child molestation is seeking a new trial.

Robert Pierce, 52, appeared in Anaconda district court recently to request a new trial and to be released from jail while he awaits his sentencing for his conviction. Both requests were still being decided by District Judge Brad Newman Tuesday, according to the Anaconda district court.

A jury found Pierce guilty April 25 of felony sexual intercourse without consent and sexual assault.

Pierce had sexual contact with the juvenile in April 2006 and April 2008.

The child didn’t tell her mother until 2012 after a Super Bowl party.

A jury convicted Pierce after a four-day trial.
