Firefighters put out blaze at Lockwood home

It took Lockwood firefighters about 20 minutes to put out a fire that started on Sunday evening near Interstate 94.

The fire, at 2614 Yankee St., was reported at about 6 p.m. in a double-wide mobile home.

When Lockwood Fire and Rescue crews arrived, flames and thick smoke were coming from a window and the roof.

Firefighters had the fire under control by 6:30 p.m. Afterward, they could be seen searching for hotspots in the walls and ceiling and removing charred debris from the home.

Neighbors said that it doesn't appear the family, including several children, who lives there was home when the fire started.

The fires cause wasn't immediately known and remains under investigation. A damage estimate wasn't immediately available.

The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the investigation.
