COLUMBIA FALLS — The parent company of Glacier Park Inc. is paying $16 million for more than 200 acres of land and businesses in and around Glacier National Park.

The Viad Corp. reported the sale price, plus $1 million for inventory, in recent corporate filings.

For nearly seven decades, the Lundgren family owned 200 acres in West Glacier along with several businesses and another nearly four acres in Apgar with a lodge, gift shop and staff housing.

Glacier Park Inc. ran Glacier National Park's visitor services for over three decades before losing a bid for the latest 16-year contract to Xanterra Parks & Resorts Inc.

GPI also owns and operates St. Mary Lodge & Resort, Glacier Park Lodge and Motel Lake McDonald in and around Glacier park.
