A Glendive man who had child pornography and videos available for sharing on the Internet admitted to a federal charge Wednesday.

Appearing in U.S. District Court in Billings, Eugene Thomas Crawford, 46, pleaded guilty to receipt of child porn from 2009 until January 2011 as charged in an indictment.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Marcia Hurd said in court records that a search warrant was issued for Crawford’s residence in January 2011 and computer equipment was seized.

Crawford admitted under questioning that he used a file-sharing program to receive child porn videos and images. Crawford had thousands of images and 125 videos on his computer, Hurd said. The content included prepubescent children and children engaged in sadistic or masochistic abuse, content that can enhance sentencing guidelines.

Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull set sentencing for Oct. 11. Crawford faces a minimum mandatory five years to 20 years in prison and a possible $250,000 fine. Crawford is in custody.
