A Great Falls man died Thursday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash near Great Falls.
The 20-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was driving a Nissan Sentra northbound near the intersection of Eden and Fisher roads south of Great Falls just before 2:30 p.m. when, for an unknown reason, he hit the brakes, the Montana Highway Patrol said.
The Nissan skidded for nearly 85 feet before crossing into the southbound lane and colliding with a Ford Explorer, driven by a 25-year-old Great Falls woman. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the vehicles were on Eden or Fisher at the time of the crash.
According to the highway patrol, the man was declared dead at the scene and the woman was taken to Benefis Healthcare East in Great Falls to be treated for injuries from the crash.
The Montana Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
