BUTTE — State officials say a 60-year-old man died in an apparent homicide at a Beaverhead County campground over the weekend.

The sheriff says they have two "persons of interest."

Beaverhead County Sheriff Jay Hansen said in a press release issued at 3 p.m. today, that the suspects may have been driving a 1983 crème motorhome with Montana plates 127766A or Washington plates 861XVT or a white Ford Explorer with Washington plates 201ZRN.

Anyone who sees these vehicles is urged to call their local law enforcement office.

The body was found by a camper who found the body Saturday at about noon. It was found "in the willows adjacent to the camp area," Hansen said.

An autopsy was completed Monday. Relatives of the man have yet to be notified.

Hansen says it appears an altercation happened near the campground.

"I can confirm that the Montana Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting the Beaverhead County Sheriff's Office in investigating an apparent homicide in the Bryant Creek Campground," John Barnes, spokesman with the state, said this afternoon.
