GREAT FALLS — A jockey who was injured during a weekend horse race at the Montana State Fair remains hospitalized, but his condition is improving.

Bill Christian suffered head injuries on Sunday when his horse fell. The horse suffered a shoulder injury and was euthanized.

Christian was initially hospitalized in serious condition.

Benefis Healthcare spokeswoman Karen Ogden said Christian's condition was upgraded to fair on Wednesday.
