A Lame Deer man on Monday denied federal charges accusing him of assaulting an officer.
Henry Charles Little Whiteman, 23, pleaded not guilty to an indictment during a hearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carolyn Ostby.
The indictment alleges Little Whiteman assaulted and injured a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer on June 8, 2013, at Lame Deer.
The crime carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Ostby ordered Little Whiteman to remain in custody pending further court orders. The case will be heard by U.S. District Judge Susan Watters.
