A man has been accused of beating three women with a frying pan, killing one.

The Big Horn County Sheriff's Office arrested James Isiah Brien, 22, on Saturday. He faces one count of deliberate homicide and two counts of assault with a weapon and is being held on a $1 million bond.

Law enforcement was first involved on Feb. 8, when the Big Horn County Sheriff's Office responded to an assault call in Hardin. One of the victims told deputies that Brien assaulted three women with a frying pan.

Another woman had a bloody face and the third woman was in and out of consciousness, according to charging documents.

The unconscious woman was taken to St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings and put on life support. She died there Saturday night.

Brien told police he was swinging the frying pan but denied hitting anyone, according to court documents.

He is scheduled to appear in district court in Big Horn County on Tuesday.
