HELENA—Gov. Steve Bullock has appointed former state Rep. Dave McAlpin, D-Missoula, to the State Tax Appeal Board.

McAlpin will succeed Kelly Flaherty-Settle on the three-person board, which hears appeals in tax disputes. His salary will be $72,619 annually.

Most recently, McAlpin was the director of the state Crime Lab in Missoula in the Justice Department when Bullock was attorney general.

He has extensive experience in both public service and the nonprofit sector. McAlpin has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Montana.

Other board members are Chairwoman Karen Powell and Samantha Sanchez.
