DEER LODGE — An 82-year-old inmate at the Montana State Prison has died.

Prison officials say Duane Wallace Aegerter died Friday after a long illness. The prison announcement didn't identify the illness.

Aegerter had been housed at the prison's Lewistown infirmary since March 13.

He was serving a sentence for a conviction on sexual assault charges in Toole County and was to be released in 2020.
