An 82-year-old North Dakota woman who was reported to be in Butte in October remains missing, and local investigators suspect she may be dead.

Sheriff John Walsh said investigators haven't received any new information on the missing woman since she cashed a traveler's check at a Town Pump in Butte at about 9 p.m. on Oct. 16.

Walsh said it's likely the woman may be deceased and her body hasn't been found.

Florence Dumontet was reported missing after she left North Dakota on a trip to Washington State in October, according to authorities in Grand Forks County North Dakota. She was reported in Butte Oct. 16, and was expected to arrive in Shelton, Wash., on Oct. 17. Her family said she usually stayed overnight in Missoula en route.

Walsh said Dumontet has had no contact with anyone and there has been no activity in her bank account since she was last seen.

Dumontet is described as 5 feet tall and 150 pounds. She was driving a black Lincoln Mark LT crew cab pickup truck and was traveling with her apricot poodle. Her family says she has a heart condition.

People with information may call Butte police at 497-1120.
